Sale of a CORREA CF20/20 milling machine for resistant steels
Nicolás Correa Service, S.A. carried out the mechanical retrofit of the CORREA CF20/20 milling machine, following its sale to a leading European company in global solutions for abrasion resistant, high yield strength steels.
This CORREA CF20/20 second hand milling machine, manufactured in 1995, features guideways with tempered steel inserts and counter guides with biplast bands on all three axes. The machine is equipped with a Heidenhain TNC-407 numerical control, 2000 mm travel on the X axis, 800 mm on its Y and Z axes, manual universal head and safety guard.
Prior to its retrofitting by NC Service, this milling machine was purchased by ABRASERVICE IBERICA. This international company was considering the possibility of investing in the purchase of a machine in order to perform milling work directly at its branch in Barcelona instead of subcontracting this work. The company required a robust milling machine, capable of milling this type of high-resistance special steel used at its factory. In order to check the performance of a retrofitted CORREA milling machine for machining these materials, NC Service allowed this company to conduct machining tests on its parts with a similar mechanically retrofitted milling machine.
The success of these machining tests convinced ABRASERVICE IBERICA that a retrofitted CORREA milling machine of these characteristics was sufficiently robust to machine this type of material. As a result, the company finally purchased the CF20/20 milling machine, marking the start of the mechanical retrofitting work by the NC Service technicians.
For this retrofit work, NC Service completely dismounted all the structural components, conducted the priming and painting processes, the replacement of bearings, the pre-loading of spindles on all three axes, the grinding and adjustment of the three axes, in addition to the complete inspection of the manual milling head, the electric components and CNC. Throughout the process, the customer was kept fully informed of the work and progress made, and was able to actively participate in the retrofitting process.
